Rooted in Bernalillo County

A proud lifelong resident of Bernalillo County District 3, I, Adriann Barboa, am deeply rooted in the community I am honored to serve. Raised in a union home by a welder father who served as a Union Steward and a hardworking mother, I grew up understanding the value of community, hard work, and advocacy. As a single mother who raised two kids in Southeast Albuquerque, in the same home I grew up in, I have lived the challenges and celebrated the triumphs alongside my neighbors. My commitment to our district is personal and driven by a lifetime of experiences and relationships here, where I am not only a public servant but also a mom, daughter, sister, and friend.

Accomplishments as County Commissioner since 2020

Since taking office in 2021, I have been dedicated to transforming our approach to public health, safety, and community well-being. Recognizing the diverse needs of our densely populated and vibrant community, I have led significant initiatives to enhance our public services and infrastructure:
  • Behavioral Health Innovations: Spearheaded the overhaul of the Behavioral Health system, focusing on de-stigmatization and accessibility, leading to the creation of the Cares Campus offering low-barrier, comprehensive services for those in need.
  • Housing Initiatives: Driven by the urgent need for affordable housing, I championed the Tiny Home Village and supported the establishment of a Community Land Trust, providing sustainable and affordable living solutions.
  • Public Safety and Community Wellness: Worked closely with local law enforcement and fire departments to ensure they are equipped not just with tools but also with strategies that prioritize mental health and community-based approaches.
  • Advocacy for Vulnerable Populations: Implemented groundbreaking programs like the Wellness Hotel to support families in need, ensuring that our social safety nets are strong and effective.

Priorities & Vision for the Future

Looking ahead, my vision for District 3 is clear and ambitious. I am committed to:
  • Strengthening Community Safety Nets: By continuing to improve our healthcare systems and expanding access to mental health services, ensuring every resident feels safe and supported.
  • Driving Economic Growth: Fostering an environment that bolsters local businesses and encourages sustainable job creation, especially in technology, healthcare, and green industries.
  • Enhancing Public Transportation: Advocating for robust and reliable transportation options that meet the needs of our growing community.
  • Championing Environmental Sustainability: Committing to initiatives like the KAFB jet fuel spill cleanup and promoting urban green spaces to ensure a healthy environment for all residents.

As we look to the future, I am inspired every day by the strength and spirit of our community. I am here to listen, to advocate, and to work tirelessly to make District 3 a place where everyone can thrive. Together, we can continue to build on our successes and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.
